Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger could be set for dramatic returns to football management in the coming weeks, they are in talks with a handful of clubs, reports say.
Mourinho, according to AFP is billed to hold talks with Inter Milan director BeppeMarotta over becoming manager of the Italian club for a second time.
It was gathered that the sacked Manchester United boss is still adored by Inter fans having delivered the treble in 2010. The 56-year-old was dismissed from his post at Old Trafford on December 18 and is looking at his route back into management, holding talks with Inter on Thursday, according to the Mirror.
Mourinho had earlier turned down the chance to take over Benfica and is understood to be content with assessing his options until the summer.
A club source disclosed that Inter would welcome Mourinho back with open arms and his legacy lives on after he delivered the Serie A, Copa Italia and Champions League nine years ago.
However, it appears that Antonio Conte is a potential candidate with current boss, Luciano Spalletti, under mounting pressure.
In the Italian rating, Inter are third in the Italian top flight but remain a massive 20 points adrift of leaders Juventus. But there is hope that Mourinho could help close that gap, said former Inter chairman, Massimo Moratti.
“Would I like Mourinho back at Inter? Yes, I’m very fond of him,” he said.
“However, we’ll give time to Spalletti to prove his worth. Diego Simeone? I love him too, but Mou is special,” he added.
In the same vein, Wenger is said to have four offers on the table for him already, even though none of those have come from Premier League sides.
The Frenchman is not willing to take a job in the English top flight as it would put him in too close contact with Arsenal, says another report.
Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain are one of the quarter of clubs eyeing his services. They are thought to view him as a potential director of football.
Another national team gave him a coaching offer likewise two other ‘leading European clubs’ have made proposals to Wenger as they bid to make him their manager with Bayern Munich, AC Milan and Real Madrid have all previously been credited with an interest in appointing him.
