Former Manchester United Coach Jose Mourinho has said Zinedine Zidane is the perfect Manager for Real Madrid.
Mourinho, who was sacked by Manchester United in December, had been in talks with Madrid president, Florentino Perez, regarding a return to the Santiago Bernabeu, AFP reported.
It was gathered that key figures in Madrid’s hierarchy were against Mourinho’s return, while senior players in the dressing room, including Captain Sergio Ramos, raised concerns about the move.
The President of Real Madrid Florentino Pérez Rodríguez opted to re-appoint Zidane, who stepped down as manager at the end of last season, after guiding Madrid to their third consecutive Champions League trophy.
Reacting to the President’s statement, Mourinho said: “Zidane is perfect for Madrid and this is perfect for himself for another great opportunity to show how good he is with a new project after the fantastic things he has achieved in recent years.
“I think it is perfect and fantastic,” Mourinho told El Chiringuito when asked about Zidane’s appointment.
