The NYSC Yobe State Coordinator, Mrs Grace Adzer on Thursday, advised Corps members to learn to be self-reliant instead of waiting for white-collar jobs.

Adzer gave the advice at the passing out ceremony of 2019 batch ‘B’ stream II in Damaturu, which was observed under strict adherence of COVID-19 safety protocols.

Adzer said “In getting back to your various communities do not fold your hands and wait for white-collar jobs. Be self-reliant. Nothing is too small for you to start.

“Look for the needs of your communities and venture into it. Once you turn yourself to an entrepreneur and make sure you make yourself useful to your respective environments”, she advised.

She also appreciated the Yobe State government for considering the security and welfare of Corps members as issues of top priority at all times.

“For over two years of my administration, as a state coordinator no corps member has been abducted or harmed in the state”, she said.

Adzer commended the corps members for their patriotism, dedication and hard work during the one-year mandatory service.

“I wish to acknowledge your efforts at providing quality and effective service at your places of primary assignment”, she said.

In his remarks, Bukar Lawan, the state Commissioner for Youths, Sports, Social and Community Development also advised the corps members to utilise the skills and the experience acquired during service year for a productive living.
