Life is often pushes us in directions that test our limits. In this video, Academy award winning actor, Denzel Washington, shares a few tips on how we can stay winning. While giving the commencement speech at Dilliar University, he admonished the fresh graduates to fail forward.

As of March 27, 1975, Washington was failing out of college with a 1.7 GPA. At the time, it seemed as if life had defeated him, like there was no future to look forward to. However, he reached a turning point where he decided to fight back and take all he desired. But first, he had to wake up from the myth of failure and rework his belief system.
“Don’t be afraid to fail big”, he says. To make any kind of differnce, you must take chances. Achieving extraordinary effects requires thinking outside the box. Essential, being a super achiever entails being a dreamer. However, you cannot afford to sleep on your dreams. According to the veteran actor, dreams without goals can only fuel disappointment.
In the video above, he expounds on the need to have goals. Furthermore, he says that goals become reality when we apply discipline and consistence. In essence, make plans and stick with them. Don’t be fooled by a frenzy of daily events, movement is not always progress. To stay winning, you must be consious of the difference between these 2.
