Manchester United Captain To Retire In 2018

Manchester United’s captain Michael Carrick has now confirmed that he will retire at the end of the 2017/18 English Premier league season.

The 36-year-old midfielder will close the door to his decorated career. Carrick said, “There comes a time when your body tells you stop playing football and that’s pretty much where I am at now.”

The former Tottenham star played 463 times for United after joining the club for £18m in 2006. Carrick has also made 34 appearances for England. 

The captain has also made just four appearances the Old Trafford club this season after suffering a heart condition.

United manager Jose Mourinho said earlier this season that the midfielder was guaranteed a coaching role when he decides to hang his footballing boots.
