Staff at the headquarters of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) Abuja, staged a protest against failure to pay off their allowances and insurance levy.

The workers decried poor treatment of the corporation and its staff by the federal government as they all wore black clothes.

A staff, refusing to disclose her identity said that there had not been bower supply and water in the premise, adding that elevators in the building are not working.

In a statement, “we don’t have power and water in the building. We have not been paid our Transport Allowances and arrears since 2010, we don’t even have insurance” the worker said.

The Radio Television Theatre and Arts Workers Union (RATTAWU) secretary in the office, Ishaku Musa described the situation at the headquarters as bad beyond control.

According to Musa, “we are mourning today and the protest is tagged Black Monday. Things have gone bad beyond control, when you look at the staff welfare; it is nothing to write home about”

Mr Musa also complained that FRCN does not use the in-house training certificate in promotions.
