Kano Kingmakers have employed the service of 24 lawyers to challenge governor Abdullahi Ganduje and the State House Assembly and others in court over the creation of four new Kano Emirates.

The Kingmakers: Madakin Kano, Yusuf Nabahani; Makaman Kano, Sarki Ibrahim; Sarkin Dawaki Maituta, Bello Abubakar and Sarkin Bai, Mukhtar Adnan had on Tuesday filed a suit at the state High Court against the Speaker of Kano State House of Assembly, Kano State House of Assembly, the Governor of Kano State, the Attorney General of Kano State and the four emirs appointed by the governor

The Kingmakers said the purported law creating four new Kano Emirates has distorted history, especially as it regards to the positions they are holding in the emirate, adding that their position is a heritage in trust for their respective clans of Jobawa, Sullubawa, Yolawa and Dambazawa.

Recall that Kano State House of Assembly had last week approved the amendment of the Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs law, thus decentralising of the Emirate council.

The bill, known as Kano Emirs Appointment and Deposition Amendment Bill 2019 was promptly signed into law by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.
