COVID-19: Iwu-led Taskforce committee to commence random tests In Imo

The taskforce committee on COVID-19 pandemic in Imo State will soon begin random testing of the people to ensure that the state is completely free of the virus.

Professor Maurice Iwu, the chairman of the committee, stated this while briefing newsmen on Thursday at the Deputy Governor’s office.

Iwu said there was no recorded case of the pandemic in the state, adding that his committee will not rest on its oars in ensuring the virus does not find its way to the state.

According to him, the committee’s decision to increase the number of persons being tested weekly was as a result of proven cases in neighbouring states including Abia.

He urged Imo people to continue to abide by the Governor’s directives, insisting that every step taken so far was for the interest of the entire Imo people.

DAILY POST, however, learnt that the task force is working in synergy with the National Orientation Agency (NOA) to enlighten the public on the dreaded virus.
