COVID-19: Biafra group attacks police, Igbo governors over lockdown, killings in Southeast

The Biafra Nations Youth League, BNYL, has condemned the killing of some youths in Onitsha, Anambra State by men of the Nigeria Police Force.

BNYL Leader, Princewill Chimezie Richard, described the Onitsha incidence as wickedness, adding that the Nigerian security operatives have killed many more than the number of recorded Coronavirus cases in a bid to enforce lockdown.

In a statement signed and sent to DAILY POST by its leader, the group lambasted southeast governors for locking down the state without providing the people relief materials to sustain them.

He said the northern governors have proven that they are more sensible than the Southern Governors by resolving not to lockdown the north without taking care of their people.

Richard wondered why governors of the Southeast and South south would be following the Federal government sheepishly.

He said: “I think our governors are not reasonable enough, the wise governors of the north who are beneficiaries of FG funds support for Coronavirus are still coming out to agitate that they need money and relief materials, whereas they are the one benefitting from the Covid19 fund.

“The Eastern governors just shut down the state, crippling their economy and allowing people to suffer while waiting for FG to allocate funds for them.”

He said it was only the Governor of Cross River State, Ben Ayade that took an impressive decision “to lockdown the border but asked workers to resume work and business people to go on with their business, making face mask free and compulsory.”
