Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has pardoned 46 inmates serving jail terms in correctional institutions across Adamawa State.
The gesture is part of efforts to decongest prisons and guard against the COVID-19.
A statement released by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Humwashi Wonosikou, said the 46 pardoned inmates are serving their terms in correctional centers located in Jada, Ganye, Numan, Jimeta, Yola Town, Mubi, and Kojoli.
The statement added that the pardon is in the exercise of the powers conferred on the governor by Section 212(i)(b) of Nigeria’s Constitution.
