The Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC, has mourned the death of Abba Kyari, Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari.
NCDC in a post on its Twitter page displayed guidelines on safety measures to adhere to during burial of a Coronavirus patient.
The agency further warned Nigerians to avoid mass gatherings in order to stay safe from COVID-19.
This followed the death of Kyari who contracted the deadly virus weeks ago.
The tweet read: “Even at this time, as we mourn loved ones lost to COVID-19, including the recently deceased, President’s Chief of Staff, Mallam Abba Kyari, we need to refrain from attending mass gatherings to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.
“Let us stay safe and protect each other. Our guidance on ensuring safe and dignified burial.”
Meanwhile, Garba Shehu, Buhari’s Spokesman had earlier announced that Kyari would be buried privately in line with NCDC’s guidelines.
