Man Utd Vs Burnley: Will Burnley Break 55 Year-old Jinx?

Manchester United

Manchester United haven’t lost a home league match against Burnley since September 1962 (2-5), winning eight and drawing five since, and this boxing day after many complaints by Jose Mourinho could be the opportunity for Burnley.

Manchester United’s Chris Smalling (groin) is unlikely to feature for Manchester United, while Eric Bailly (ankle) is out and Antonio Valencia remains doubtful after missing the last two matches (hamstring).

Michael Carrick (illness) is not expected to feature over the Festive period and Marouane Fellaini (knee) remains doubtful.

Burnley are also without defenders James Tarkowski (suspended) and Stephen Ward (knee) and midfielder Robbie Brady (knee), while Chris Wood (knee) is also a doubt.

Burnley left Old Trafford with a goalless draw last season despite facing a total of 38 shots, the highest in a single match in 2016/17.

Man Utd have won 19 of their 23 Premier League Boxing Day matches, giving them the best win percentage of all clubs on this day in the competition (83%).

United are unbeaten in 16 home league matches on Boxing Day (W14 D2), since a 0-3 defeat against Liverpool in 1978. The match kicks off by 4pm Nigerian time.
